SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD Nathaniel Singh gave Fiji a good start in their six-bout competition against Nauru at the FMF Gymnasium last night.
He won by unanimous points decision against Yachen Cook in the 60kg category.
Singh dominated the fight against the Nauruan through his long reach and kept Cook at bay with his accurate jabs combined with some very effective combination of hooks and uppercuts.
Cook tried to corner Singh but each and every-time Singh repelled some of his offensive moves with some well-placed counter-punches.
He was disappointed with his performance saying he would work hard to improvement in the future.
Singh follows in his father Gyan Singh and elder brother Sebastien Singh’s footsteps.
Meanwhile, in the other bouts William Mel of Fiji lost out to Nauru’s Harry James Adu through unanimous points decision while Fiji’s Brian Elbourne beat Aiziah Doguape in an unanimous decision.
