Natabua High School currently leads the Coca-Cola Lautoka Zone Day One medal tally with an impressive haul of 18 gold, six silver, and seven bronze medals.
Jasper Williams High School follows closely behind in second place, securing 10 gold, eight silver, and eight bronze medals, while Central College Lautoka holds third place with four gold, three silver, and seven bronze medals.
Expressing her optimism, Lautoka Zone Coordinator Doris Gomesh anticipates a strong showing from the zone in this year’s Coca-Cola Games.
“The athletes have done the best of their ability and it’s beyond our expectation.
“This year we have seen there is alot of competition compared to previous years and we can see that these schools have really prepared well and are coming up now,” Gomesh said.
Gomesh acknowledges the perennial threat posed by Lautoka Zone contenders, particularly Jasper Williams in the girls’ division and Natabua High School in the boys’ division, both of whom have previously clinched Coca-Cola Games silverware.
“This year we people should expect to see changes from the Lautoka zone but it’s too early to say,” she added.
The zone meet culminates at Churchill Park today.
