One hundred and fifty years since its operations started, the Fiji Police Force has yet to have an official building to call its own permanent headquarters.
Acting Deputy Police Commissioner Aporosa Lutunauga said for years, they had been renting space all over the place.
Mr Lutunauga said the new strategic plan, which many communities helped shape, sets out the way forward for the force.
“This includes the construction of its very own headquarters,” he said.
At a certificate handover ceremony, Mr Lutunauga said the headquarters would be built at Nasova.
“The very document that defines the future of the Fiji Police Force was launched at Nasova. It’s a place of historical importance and a reminder of where we come from, even as we look ahead.”
As the force marks 150 years of service, the new strategic plan aims to modernise operations, strengthen community policing, and finally deliver a long-overdue home for the institution.
“It’s not just about a building, it’s about giving the men and women of the Fiji Police Force a permanent base and reaffirming our commitment to serve the people of Fiji.”
