Tribal Risk Nasinu and Suva Volleyball Association are the respective winners of the men’s and women’s divisions of the 2026 Vanua Challenge competition which concluded last Saturday at the National Gymnasium in Suva.

While they went away with their spoils, the Mid-Central team showed significant progress in the tournament.

The team initially aimed at reaching the quarter-finals and they went well past that after beating Nasinu 3.

The Mid-Central Volleyball Association is made up of men and women from Wailekutu to Nausori.

President Josh Tulele expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress, recalling their initial target to reach the quarter-finals.

“Our goal for this tournament is to go a little bit over the semi-finals, and that would be a bonus for us,” he said.

Reflecting on the quarter-final match, Tulele highlighted communication as a key area for improvement.

“A major concern for us was how the team communicates and works together to achieve the goals we set. We’ve been practicing that over the last three weeks,” he noted.

Looking ahead, Tulele outlined the association’s plans for the remainder of the season.

“We have only three weeks left to complete our club games before the season ends on Easter weekend. After that, we expect to take a short break,” he explained.

With determination fueling their drive, the team aims to build on their recent progress well.
