Nasinu Gospel School has made a welcome return to the Nasinu Primary Schools Netball Association competition after a three-year absence, bringing fresh hope and energy to the tournament.

Letila Peckham, the school’s sports coordinator and under-12 coach, said the team had missed out on last year’s competition due to the Easter break and had also sat out two years prior.

“The girls have really put in the hard work. Our teachers have been very supportive, and the parents are also on board,” she said.

Peckham revealed that the focus this year was on nurturing young talent, especially among the lower primary level students, with the intention of building a strong foundation for the future.

“It’s about development. We want to introduce netball early so the children can grow with the game,” she explained.

Being a faith-based school, Nasinu Gospel places emphasis not just on sport but on the all-round development of its students.

“We aim to mould our girls to be both good players on the court and good students in the classrooms,” Peckham added.

With the national championship on the horizon, excitement is building.

Trials held recently saw several players from Nasinu Gospel selected to potentially represent Fiji.

On this note, Peckham thanked the selectors for recognising the talent within the school.

Nasinu Gospel’s return is a promising sign for the future of netball in the Nasinu region, with fresh faces eager to make their mark on the sport.
