NAMOSI earned its spot in the final of the Subrails Marama Cup competition after a 30-21 victory over Nasinu at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva yesterday.
The highlanders kept a firm lead on the scoreboard throughout the contest, leading 10-7 at half-time.
Tries for Namosi were scored by Rusila Nagasau, Litia Marama and two by loose forward Vive Sikisanawa.
Two conversions and a penalty were made by Viniana Riwai while Ivamere Rokowati added another penalty kick.
Experience proved to be a vital driving force for the winners as seen in the appearances of players such as Josivini Naihamu, Ana Maria Roqica, Ivamere Rokowati, Rusila Nagasau and Adi Salaseini Railumu.
Nasinu’s tries were made by Ziborah Nagar, Emmy Liliogo and Vilimaina Naituku with two conversions made by Adi Ana Lutunauca and another by Ateca Nacaucauceva.
Winning coach Etonia Taivoce shared the message emphasised to the team at half-time.
“I told the players that it’s not over yet, the game is not over yet and they needed to change their way of playing, and had to maintain their composure in the game,” Taivoce recalled.
“They had to maintain possession of the ball and work harder so that we could continue our lead and reach the 80th minute and finish the game well.” Namosi made three changes to their line-up as Siteri Makoto, lock Vane Lolo and Ivamere Rokowati changed places with Nagasau, Susana Maramairatei and Jeniffer Ravutia.
The home side made six changes with Ulamila Bauwale, Livia Tubailagi, Veniana Lewarara, Salote Nailolo, Ana Qiolevu and Lianne Ravato coming off the bench.
The six replaced Ema Gade, Liliogo, Eseta Vunitabua, Aqela Raitubu, Grace Waqa and Temalesi Naituituba respectively.
