NAMOSI has booked a spot in the finals of the ANZ Marama Cup competition after beating Yasawa 26-24 in the semi-final at Buckhurst Park in Suva yesterday.
Team manager Etonia Taivoce said while they were proud of the side’s accomplishment, there were still a few areas they needed to work on before heading into the finals.
“It was a tough game here but the girls came out determined and focused on the goal which was to secure the win.”
He said the Yasawa side gave Namosi a run for their money, taking them to the wire until the final hooter.
“Hats off to Yasawa for giving us a very strong game, especially in the second half where they came out much stronger.
“Their defence was one of their strengths I would say, but I’m happy with the girls for the bravery and confidence on the field.”
The side will now face defending champions Suva in the finals next weekend, and Taivoce is anticipating a tough encounter with the capital city side.
“They will be looking to defend their title so it will be a tough match, but we didn’t come this far to give in so easily.
“For now it’s back to our drawing board where we will prepare and get ready for the final.”
He also thanked their fans and supporters who came out in numbers to cheer on the side.
