Former Suva centre Iosefo Namoce is set to join the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition after signing a two-year deal with the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua.
Originally from Nakama in Macuata, with maternal ties to Vuna, Taveuni, Namoce has been a standout performer in the Fiji provincial competition.
He has also been impressing in Australia, playing centre for the Gungahlin Eagles 1st Grade team in Canberra’s John I Dent Cup.
A former Queen Victoria School student, Namoce is versatile in the backline, capable of covering both inside and outside centre. He was also part of the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s squad that competed at the 2023 Oceania 7s in the Solomon Islands.
The 23-year-old is ready for his new challenge
“I am feeling a mix of excitement, pressure and nerves but ready to contribute and make a positive impact to the Club next season,” he said.
Namoce is no stranger to Drua players, having played alongside Drua development player John Muller for Suva in 2024. That same year, he was named Men’s Rookie of the Year at the Suva Rugby Awards.
A true homegrown talent, his rugby journey began with Lakeba Rugby in Suva’s Escott Shield competition.
Fijian Drua General Manager Rugby, Baden Stephenson, welcomed the signing.
“Our Club is very excited about Iosefo joining the Fijian Drua. He is a player that has attributes that align to the Drua playing style and identity. Iosefo’s journey hasn’t always been straight forward, however; I am confident that our rugby environment can fast track him into a quality Super Rugby Pacific player.”
