Naitasiri team debuts at netball competition

NAITASIRI netball team made their debut appearance at the Battle of the Netters 2025 competition, which concluded at the National Netball Centre in Laucala Bay, Suva yesterday.

The Association proudly brought six teams to participate in this competition, marking a significant milestone as it was their first time competing in the Battle of the Netters event.

Secretary of Naitasiri Netball Association, Arieta Naisake, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to showcase their skills and compete against other Associations across the country.

“We are glad to be part of the event, we brought six teams, under-15, U18, three open-women’s grade, and one open men’s grade,” said Naisake.

She adds the primary focus of the team was not solely on winning, but rather on gaining exposure and enjoying the sport, the dedication and hard work of the players were evident throughout the competition.

“Looking at our young grades U15-U18 the both teams, have made it through to the quarter-finals which is a big achievement for our Association.

“Most of our players this is their first big tournament, so we are great full for what we achievement, it’s the exposer that we need for our players and to do better in the future competition.”

Despite facing challenges in forming the teams and financial constraints, the support from sponsors such as NewWorld and Crest played a crucial role in ensuring that the players were equipped with new jerseys and training gear to compete at their best.

Naisake expressed gratitude towards their sponsors and supporters for enabling them to participate in the competition.

Meanwhile in other results, Open Women’s Nadi 27-1 Labasa, Suva Mystics 35-03 Nanukuloa, Lautoka Friends 30-4 Tavua, Suva Lightening 57-1 Savusavu Pearls.

Under-18: Lautoka 9-4 Naitasiri, Suva Hibiscus 18-1 Suva Iris, Suva Jasmine 5-5 Lautoka Maroons.
