Naitasiri’s senior men’s rugby team is aiming for an unblemished record in the 2024 Skipper Cup season after clinching a hard-fought 25-19 victory against Tailevu last weekend.

Despite the challenge posed by their neighbors, the team remains focused on continuing their undefeated run from the first two rounds.

Team skipper Asiveli Rokoua highlighted the intensity of facing Tailevu, acknowledging their formidable reputation.

“Tailevu has always been a challenging team to play against,” Rokoua remarked.

“We’ll use this win as a springboard to fine-tune our game for the upcoming rounds,” he said.

Next up for Naitasiri is a highly anticipated clash against Nadroga at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka tomorrow.

Rokoua emphasized the importance of building momentum from round one and thanked their younger players for stepping up in the absence of seasoned teammates now playing abroad.

Looking forward, he stressed the need to shore up their defence, identifying it as a vulnerability exposed in the match against Tailevu.

The addition of Swire Shipping Fijian Drua standout Motikiai Murray has injected fresh energy into the squad, with Rokoua expressing gratitude for his contributions drawn from Drua’s training camp.
