NAITASIRI has successfully defended the Inkk Farebrother trophy after beating Malolo 32-19 at Ratu Cakobau Park this afternoon.
It was an intense contest from both teams as it showcased the pursuit of defence by Naitasiri and Malolo’s desire to make a resounding comeback performance into the Skipper Cup after a lapse of nine years.
A lack of discipline proved to be a loophole for both teams, as tough contests for the ball gave way to scuffles which resulted in yellow cards being copped for both sides.
The points during the breather stood at 17-6 for Naitasiri and afterwards, Malolo intensified its approach towards the Naitasiri try-line which gave way to a penalty kick and a converted try.
After round one, Naitasiri will face Tailevu next week while Malolo will face Ba.
