Naitasiri Secondary School has set its sights on conquering the national quarter-finals after emerging victorious in the Southern Zone Deans U19 title, defeating Nasinu Secondary School 21-5, at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva on Saturday.
Team manager Akanisi Liku said it was a tough game against Nasinu, but the team showed great spirit and resolve to come out on top.
She credited the players for their performance on the field and acknowledged the support they received from fans and parents.
Liku also praised coach Rusiate Talebulamai for his leadership in preparing the team for the upcoming national quarter-finals.
“The boys did well on the field, and we feel like a higher power guided us from the pool matches to the zone final,” Liku said.
“This is just the beginning for us, in two weeks, we have the national quarter-finals, and coach Rusiate is preparing the boys well.”
Having fallen short in the national quarter-finals last year, the school is determined to go further this year and ultimately win the Deans U19 competition.
With the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League competition already under their belt, they are focused on achieving their goal.
“Last year, we were disappointed to lose in the national quarter-finals to Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS), this year, we’re thinking differently and aiming to reach the final.”
