Naisewa to lead Drua W

Karalaini Naisewa has been named the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua women’s captain for this season’s Super W competition.

She will lead the side from her usual number eight position against the Reds in their opening match on Sunday.

Head coach Mosese Rauluni has named his match-day squad with debutants including Unaisi Lalabalvu and Merewairita Neivosa in the starting 15.

Their front row sees the experienced Anasimeci Korovata at loosehead prop, Lalabalavu to debut at hooker, and Mereoni Vonosere at tighthead.

Nadi youngster Mereoni Nakesa will partner Jade Coates at locks while Teresia Tinanivalu comes in at blindside to pair Sulita Waisega at openside.

The backline sees Evivi Senikarivi starting at halfback, with former North Queensland Cowboys speedster Merewalesi Rokouono slotting in at flyhalf. Adita Milinia starts on the left wing with Neivosa on the right wing.

An experienced centre pairing starts this first match with Merewai Cumu at inside and Vani Arei on the outside.

Completing the matchday 23 at fullback is Luisa Tisolo. Six potential debutants have been named on the bench.

They include Loraini Senivutu who will provide cover at hooker, Salanieta Nabuli and Tiana Robanakadavu to provide impact in the front row. Aviame Veidreyaki and Merewai Nasilasila provide options at locks and the backrow.

Atelaite Ralivanawa will provide cover on the wing.

Drua W meets Reds in a repeat of the 2023 Super W final on Sunday, 3.35pm at Ballymore Stadium, Brisbane.
