THE Vodafone Fiji under-20 football team’s free kick specialist Praneel Naidu is hoping to score goals in the FIFA U20 World Cup.
Naidu scored for Fiji in the qualifiers and is hungry for more.
“It is a great feeling to be part of the Fiji team in the World Cup. What is more special is that the team has qualified for the first time and I personally think it is a big achievement,” Naidu said.
The Frank Farina-coached side will play Germany in their opening match next month.
“I have been working on my set pieces during training after the qualifiers,” Naidu said.
He said he had been looking at techniques used by the best free kick takers in the business.
“I have been following David Beckham and here at home I have learnt from Avinesh Waran Suwamy,” Naidu added.
“I am hoping that I score a few goals through set pieces. Whenever I take my free kick, I always look at their heights and then also look at the situation and then take my shot.”
Fiji is grouped with Germany, Honduras and Uzbekistan.
