Viwa Naduvalo underlined his value to the Fiji Airways men’s 7s side after being named Player of the Final at the Singapore 7s on Sunday night.
Naduvalo delivered an outstanding all-round performance, making a strong impact on both sides of the ball as Fiji claimed the tournament title.
The elusive back was a constant threat in attack, breaking the defensive line with pace and footwork, while also putting in crucial defensive efforts when his team was under pressure.
His contribution throughout the tournament was impressive, finishing with six tries from five matches to play a key role in Fiji’s successful campaign.
“First of all, I want to thank the God Almighty, the players and my fellow brothers for giving their 100 per cent effort and playing as a unit which saw us come away with the victory,” Naduvalo said.
He also reserved special praise for debutants Douglas Daveta and Nacani Boginisoko, acknowledging the effort and commitment they showed over the two days of competition.
“The future really looks bright. To the new players who made their debut in this tournament, they really stepped up. From their first games they gained confidence and their game improved gradually.
“It is not easy playing on the international stage but they came right to the final and played really well, and I commend the effort they put in for the team and country.”
Naduvalo’s leadership and work ethic reflected the team’s unity and hunger for success as they navigated a demanding tournament. His ability to rise to the occasion in the final further highlighted his growing influence within the squad.
The Fiji Airways men’s 7s team departed for Australia yesterday, where they will continue their World SVNS Series campaign at the Perth 7s this weekend, aiming to build on their momentum from Singapore.
