The Nadroga rugby team wants to reassure their fans that there’s light at the end of every tunnel and for that the team management has made positional changes for the last three rounds of the Skipper Cup competition.
Despite the Nadroga camp being hit with multiple injuries the other players have kept their focus on securing a spot in the semi-finals and majority of these players are the young upcoming players filling in the shoes of the injured war horses.
Union president Tiko Matawalu said they were going through a phase where they would have to press the reset button and start fresh.
“It’s not over until it’s over,” said Matawalu.
“We are going through our transitional phase and that is normal for life.
“We need to understand that life cycle is taking its course and the best we can do is to collect ourselves, regroup press the reset button and move forward together.”
The Stallions have regrouped and made use of the sand dunes for the past few days before they face Nadi this weekend.
Former Nadroga representative Sirilo Lala said fitness had always been a contributing factor to Nadroga’s poor performances and they needed to return to where they used to gather their strength.
“Nadroga was known as the champion of local rugby competitions in previous years because they had one training environment that no other team has.
“The sand dunes gives players extra power and strength to play throughout the 80 minutes so the coaches need to return to the dunes where it will bring out the true nature of Nadroga in the rugby field,” said Lala.
Nadroga will host Nadi at Lawaqa Park on Saturday Naitasiri to host points table leaders Suva at the Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori, Yasawa to take on Tailevu in Nadi while Lautoka faces Namosi at Churchill Park.
