Nadi’s medal haul

NADI Airport School was crowned the champions of this year’s Nadi Primary School Athletics Zone meet.

The school won 20 gold medals, 12 silver and 13 bronze to win the overall title.

It edged Namaka Public School which finished with 17 gold medals, 17 silver and 11 bronze.

Korovuto Primary School finished on third spot with nine gold medals, nine silver and 5 bronze followed by Nadi District on eight gold medals.

Meanwhile, Nawaka District School sprinter Ratu Sireli Misiwini was crowned the fastest primary school student in the event after winning the 100m final during the Nadi Primary Schools Athletics Zone held at Prince Charles Park yesterday.

Misiwini started the race strongly and maintained his lead to record 12.89 seconds outpacing first runner up Kemueli Vanua of Nadi Primary School.

Nadi Airport School’s Immanuel Tuiwainunu won the third spot clocking 13.87seconds.

Asinate Rabitu stamped her mark in the girls’ 100m final beating Keasi Ranadi of Nawaka District to win the gold medal.

Ranadi clocked 14.07 followed by Nadi Airport’s Enola Fifita who stopped the clock at 14.24 seconds.

Meet manager Mikaele Matanisoakula said: “It was a successful day and the children enjoyed themselves. We are looking forward to a good outing at the West Chow Games and aim to lift our performance.”
