Nadi wins clash

VODAFONE Nadi president Navneeda Goundar was not happy with the performance of the referee George Time of Solomon Island during their match against Kiwi FC in the 2016 OFC Champions League in New Zealand yesterday.

The referee flashed six red cards in Nadi’s 4-3 win over Kiwi FC.

National under-23 utility Anish Khem was the hero for the side scoring all of Nadi’s goal coming from behind.

Nadi’s Waisake Tabucava and Desmond Faaiuaso were given their marching orders.

Nadi trailed 3-1 at half time.

Goalkeeper Vereti Dickson and Lionel Taylor were sent off in the 80th minute of the match when they lost their temper.

Lawrie Letutusa had to take an early exit for his second yellow card.

Nadi striker Napolioni Qasevakatini was also sent off in the match leaving only eight players on the pitch for about three minutes of the match.

Nadi president Navneeda Goundar was not happy with the referees performance.

“The game became very physical and the referee could not hold the pressure which he could have controlled easily,” he told Times Sport from New Zealand.

“It was a hard fought battle for us coming from behind to win. It was a good win but we had to pay heavy prices with three of our players red carded.

“Weather was also a contributing factor for us since the players were playing in 15 degrees temperature.”

The trio will miss their final pool match against AS Magenta on Friday.
