The Skipper Cup round five match between the Nadi Jets and Cambridge Farms Nadroga ended abruptly at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on Friday night following the power outage experienced on Viti Levu.
The match was 18 minutes into the second half and Nadi’s outside centre Jovesa Namisi had put the visitors ahead with a try to lead 15-14 when the lights went off.
Following consultations between the match commissioner and Rugby House officials, the decision was made for the match to be called off and the win awarded to Nadi.
The two sides exchanged penalty kicks in the opening 30 minutes of the match with Nadroga fullback Jack Volavola and his Nadi counterpart Rafaele Tunidau putting the scores at 6-3 in favour of the hosts after 30 minutes. Nadi went ahead 10-6 in the 31st minute after being awarded a penalty try.
Two minutes later, Nadroga scored an uncoverted try to add to Volavola’s third successful penalty and lead 14-10 at the breather.
Namisi crossed over for the visitors in the second half and as the conversion was being taken, the lights went off. Nadi was leading 15-14.
Meanwhile, Nadi also win the development match 12-5 and the under-20s 19-17.
