Nadi FC booked their place in the upcoming Fiji FACT tournament after a convincing 5-2 win over Navua FC in the Extra Premier League clash at Prince Charles Park yesterday.
The Jetsetters were in top form at home, taking a commanding 3-1 lead into halftime. Eneriko Matau bagged a brace while veteran forward Rusiate Matarerega added another. Navua’s only first-half response came from Brian Charitar.
Nadi maintained their attacking momentum in the second half, with Apolosi Seru netting twice to seal the victory. Despite a goal from Navua’s Rahul Krishna, it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback.
Head coach Raj Dayal was pleased with the team’s performance.
“They did what we practised. Despite a few errors, they played well. I thank God for the strength and unity He has blessed the boys with,” Dayal said.
“This is not the end, we will continue to work hard as we prepare to face Rewa next.”
Navua coach Saiyad Ali, who had just returned to the team after a month away, admitted there is plenty of work ahead.
“Nadi was the better side. We played well in the first half, but Nadi came out strongly in the second.
“Congratulations to Nadi for qualifying for the Fiji FACT. As for us, we’ll need to go back, assess our weaknesses. Some players are overweight, and others are not performing to expectations, those are areas we must address.”
