Nadi rugby team is in impressive form ahead of the Skipper Cup round one competition which is set to begin on July 8.
The Nadi Jets which are the defending champion of the top local rugby competition, won all their pre-season matches against Cakaudrove, Nadroga, and Malolo, however, drew against Macuata.
Bolstering the side this season, are former Fiji 7s players — Semi Kunatani, Vatemo Ravouvou, and Savenaca Rawaca.
Nadi Rugby manager Epeli Qoro said they couldn’t wait to face Yasawa in two weeks’ time.
“We aim to defend the title and we as a team are mentally and physically ready for our first match against the Yasawa rugby team,” he said.
Qoro said Kunatani had been in impressive form in the pre-season, playing at number eight, and would be an essential player for them in the forwards.
He urged fans to come out in good numbers to support the team when the Skipper Cup competition begins next month.
According to Qoro, Fiji Pine Ltd and McDonald’s Fiji have reconfirmed its sponsorship for this season, however, they were in talks with another sponsor to reconfirm their sponsorship deal.
“We will be sitting with them next week to reconfirm the deal,” said Qoro.
