Nadi put on a strong performance yesterday after they thumped Tavua by 5- 2 in the Digicel Premier League clash at Garvey Park.

Nadi midfielder William Valentine scored a goal late in the first half as the Jetsetters led 1-nil at halftime.

Solomon Island import Berrie Limoki extended Nadi’s lead 2-0 in the second spell.

Nikesh Singh and teenage sensation Vishant Reddy’s goals saw Nadi go into a comfortable 4-0 lead.

Tavua scored two goals before Nadi’s Eshan Kumar sealed the match with a penalty kick.

Nadi Coach Kamal Swamy said although the team played well, the two goals conceded by Nadi were silly.

“In those goals, our backline was reluctant and made unnecessary mistakes,” he said.

He said the Korovuto College student – Vishant Reddy was an exciting prospect of Nadi football and credits former Ba midfielder Avinesh Waran Swamy for grooming the young player.

“We need to minimise our mistakes because next week, we will face league leaders Rewa FC.”

Tavua coach Mohammed Ashif Khan said five of their regular players had been called up for national duties and futsal tournament.

“Two players are in futsal and three players are in the Fiji U-23 team and we are really missing their services.”

Khan said the team was going to work on their weakness in the upcoming DFPL matches.
