“I CANNOT be lying or giving them false hope!”
This is the plea raised by Nadi Netball Association president Sikeli Vula in regard to the players part of the association, ahead of a Special General Meeting of Netball Fiji, scheduled for this Saturday.
Vula said while he did not have any grudges against the current executives, he was also speaking out for the players in the Nadi association and the prospect of national representation.
“They have a future. I cannot be lying or giving false hope to tell them “waqe vakaikai” (play your best), play harder or train harder because you will don that jersey,” Vula emphasised.
“Because right now, we are not sure whether Fiji is qualified for the Commonwealth Games or not.”
Vula is also part of 15 presidents that signed a letter calling for a SGM where the motions for a vote of no confidence in the executive committee of Netball Fiji and the appointment of an interim committee to take its place would be moved.
“We are coming in for the change because we are speaking on behalf of these little girls, the parents and their families who are supporting them
He spoke on behalf of the Western netball associations, stating he had no grudges against the current committee; hoping change would happen.
“We have already voiced ourselves as through this motion (and) we have already agreed by signing,” Vula said.
“It’s for the future of netball.”
The Western netball associations are Ba, Lautoka, Ra, Rakiraki, Tavua and Vatukaloko.
Meanwhile, questions sent to Netball Fiji president RubyAnn Sorovaki on the issue and other related matters remained unanswered when this edition went to press last night.
