NADI created history on Friday retaining their girls title for the third consecutive year at the Fiji Primary Schools Tuckers Ice Cream Games, after two days of fierce competitions at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

The young jetsetters defended their title in dominating fashion bagging 14 golds, 4 silvers, and 3 bronze.

In second place was Suva 1 with 6 golds, 12 silvers, and 2 bronze while the Lautoka Maroons finished third with 6 golds, 4 silvers, and 9 bronze.

Team manager Salome Leqeti said the result was expected given the experience and the preparations the girls have done leading up to the competition.

“I was not surprised, we’ve prepared well like every other school but for Nadi there are over 20 schools that make up the team and that has really helped us to field a strong team,” she said.

Leqeta also highlighted the support of the parents especially in backing the coaches in the preparations of the team.

But she gives all the credit to the athletes who gave it their all in the two-day meet.

“Firstly want to thank the lord for giving us this win for with out him this would not have been possible,” she said.

“And also, I would like to thank the athletes they were they one’s competing giving their all in the two-day meet.”

The will is a special on to the Nadi team as the converted girls marking their second successful defence in their three-year reign.

“This win is really means a lot it’s always easy to come in and challenge, but to defend it’s quite a challenge, so yes this win means a lot to us,” Naqeta explained.
