Nadi Rugby Union operations manager Jeff Tamata has called on supporters to turn out in numbers and show their colours when the TISA Insurance Nadi Rugby Club competition finals are played tomorrow.
With four finals scheduled as part of a seven-match programme at Prince Charles Park, Tamata expects the atmosphere to reach another level after an exciting quarterfinal and semifinal stage.
“If the quarterfinal and semifinal is something to consider, tomorrow’s final will be another level,” Tamata said.
“From the crowd, the atmosphere building up to it, and most importantly, the game itself.”
Tamata urged supporters to wear their respective club attire, including shirts and flags, and get behind the players who have carried their clubs through the competition.
“I urge the fans, we have one more day, the final, let’s show Fiji what Nadi Club Rugby is about,” he said.
“Come out in your club attire and support your team.”
He said the support shown by fans throughout the competition had been crucial to the growth of grassroots rugby in Nadi.
“When you support the Nadi Rugby Club competition, you’re basically supporting the players,” Tamata said.
The gates will open at 7am, with the first final, the Under-20 clash between Nasesevia and Nationwide Sabeto, scheduled for 8am.
Tamata also acknowledged the sponsors who have supported the four club competition categories.
Dr Kris Naidu Medical Centre is sponsoring the Under-20 competition and will provide the main prize money for the category, while DEII Production is sponsoring the Premier competition.
The Super Premier winner will become the first recipient of the Ratu Naevo Shield, sponsored by Nadi Rugby patron, Momo na Tui Nawaka Ratu Joeli Bulu Derenalagi.
Tamata also thanked TISA Insurance, the main sponsor of the Nadi Rugby Club competition, for its continued support.
He said the contribution of sponsors had helped provide an opportunity for local players and clubs to showcase their talent on a bigger stage.
