NADI has continued with their winning momentum after the Jolame Luvevou-captained side ended Suva’s undefeated run in the Skipper Cup competition winning 17-12 in a pulsating clash at Prince Charles Park in Nadi yesterday.
The Jetsetters were quick off the mark as winger Mosese Naura crossed over the line for the side’s opening converted try.
Suva was made to work hard and pulled back through a try from hooker Joeli Nainoca.
Nadi fly-half Serupepeli Vularika slotted in a penalty kick in the 18th minute as they went into the break leading 10-5.
In-form Nadi winger Naura completed his brace early in the second half to further extend the home side’s lead to 17-5.
Suva replied minutes later through a try from loose head prop Sireli Fa to reduce the gap to 12-17.
Scrappy play and indiscipline for the next 30 minutes prevented both team’s from putting more points on the board.
Nadi manager Epeli Qoro said his team put in a strong performance to beat Suva.
“It was a huge performance from the boys and the boys got the job done,” he said.
Qoro added the Suva pack was heavier and they had to rely on their development players in the front row but it was encouraging to see the young boys stepping up to the role.
“Suva gave us a good game but it is not the end of the road for us as we have the Farebrother Trophy challenge coming up.”
