Fiji Airports Nadi secured their first Skipper Cup win against Lautoka 28-22 at Prince Charles Park yesterday.
Nadi head coach Aca Bibi said; “Despite the win there are other things that needs to be improved for our future matches.”
In an intense first half, Nadi secured the lead with tries by Jiutasa Nave and Jona Sawailau. Lautoka responded with Freddy Ralulu’s try and Netava Nayacalevu’s conversion, but Nadi’s Mataiasi Toma’s penalties ensured a 11-10 halftime lead.
The second half saw Raymond Karisini and Sireli Masiwini scoring for Nadi. Netani Nayacalevu notched a try for Lautoka.
Despite the rain, the game’s spirit endured, and Nadi secured victory with a 28-22 score, highlighted by Toma’s successful penalty.
Lautoka head coach Apimeleki Iosefo said: “I thank the boys for a good game. We were expecting Nadi to be tough but I thank the boys for a good fight till the final whistle.”
