Nadi International Airport is an irresistible magnet for investments, commerce, talents and visitors.
The airport, Fiji Airports Ltd CEO Mesake Nawari said, had been a strong recovery for the aviation industry, with passenger traffic at the international port of entry and domestic outer stations growing steadily during this period.
The CEO made the comment at the commissioning event of some projects implemented by Fiji Airports last week, part of the ‘Enhancing COVID-19 Preparedness for Tourism Recovery Project’, under the Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific through the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The newly completed facilities include the new boarding gate 8 exit, washroom facilities at the international departure lounge, and the procurement of 500 crowd control barriers and 500 baggage trolleys.
“As the airport leading the Pacific region in international travel recovery, Nadi registered 2,635,766 international passenger movements in 2023 and 1,339,790 international passengers in the first half of 2024,” Mr Nawari said.
“As a key pillar of our economy, Fiji Airports plays an invaluable role in realising our vision to be a vital player in aviation in the region.
“The growth and success of Fiji Airports has been at the heart of Fiji’s rise as an aviation leader and tourism hub.”
