Three games, three wins, the Nadera Panthers rugby league team are roaring through the Vodafone Cup rugby league competition unbeaten.

The Panthers delivered another commanding performance in round three of the competition, defeating Serua Dragons 30-4 at Bidesi Park on Saturday.

The Nadera side started the season strong with a win over the defending champions Vusu Raiders in round one, followed by victory over Makoi Bulldogs in round two.

Saturday’s result confirms their status as serious contenders.

Head coach Vula Dakuitoga, who has been with the Panthers since their formation in 1992, said the team is focused on its goals and not the name of the opponent.

“Preparation has been the same every time, we didn’t see the team. We have a target and that is what we will be focusing on.”

“I tell the boys don’t see the name of the team, we don’t care about the name of the team and remain committed to our targets and that is to remain unbeaten in the game,” he said.

Dakuitoga, who also coaches the Fiji Residents rugby league team, said while there is no perfect game, he was pleased with the effort.

“There is no perfect game.

“There will be drop balls, there will be mistakes but overall, it was a good performance.”

Despite their inexperience, they’ve played with discipline and control.

“Every week, we work on the same two things defence and attack. That is the only two things that we work on because those things are the only thing that we are going to do on the field,” Dakuitoga said.

With three straight wins under their belt, the Panthers are hungry for more.
