Nabavatu village relocation advances to phase two, Minister Ditoka reports steady progress

Minister for Rural Development Sakiasi Ditoka said the Nabavatu village relocation plan is currently in phase two of works.

He provided an update to Parliament this morning.

“The civil and drainage works, along with land clearing, have been successfully completed. Additionally, the road scene works have been finalised by the Public Works Department,” he said.

“Engineering Express Limited is diligently advancing the construction of 37 homes across three terraces at the site.”

Specifically, terrace one is allocated for eight homes, terrace two for 18 homes, and terrace three for 11 homes.”

“Currently, the foundations of these homes are at various stages of completion,” Mr Ditoka explained.

He said despite weather related challenges, progress remains on track.

“Superstructural progress on site remains positive, notwithstanding some inevitable delays caused by adverse weather conditions, and necessary adaptations of the foundation designs to ensure structural integrity,” he added.

Mr Ditoka said the Office of the Commissioner Northern Division, is ensuring smooth execution of the works.

“The ministry continues to coordinate closely with the contractor, ensuring smooth execution of each phase while addressing any challenges, proactive with consistent progress and well-managed resources, we are confident in meeting project milestones as planned.’
