AS the competition heated up at the Coca-Cola Games Triple N Zone meet at the HFC Bank Stadium, Na Gone Ni Colo Secondary School marked a proud milestone, making an impressive debut, a new chapter for the young school’s history.
School manager and teacher Lemeki Tukana said their participation would be a memorable experience for the students, one they would be eager to share with friends and family back in their communities.
“We are really grateful to be part of the Triple N Zone, the students are really enjoying the experience and it’s an honour for them to represent their new school as well as their families from the interior of Naitasiri,” he said.
Since opening its doors this year, the school has enrolled eleven students, with eight representing the school at the competition.
“Eight students are representing us in the two-day meet, of the eight – seven are male athletes and one lone female athlete. All of whom will be competing at the junior and sub-junior grades,” he said.
All students are in Year Nine with three teachers overseeing their daily classes.
The eight athletes have all chosen to compete in track events, ranging from 100m to 1500m.
The zone meet will conclude today.
