Music is a universal language, and I hope that through my lyrics and music, I can encourage and uplift others, especially young people”.
New gospel solo artist, Seremaia Namaralevu Naureure hopes to inspire many with his music – reminding everyone that Jesus still loves them and it’s never too late to turn back to God.
Seremaia who is known by his stage name ‘Jaymaiah’ is not new to the music industry in Fiji having had a successful musical journey with his band, Yanu Boyz since 2020.
Before debuting as a gospel artist, Jaymaiah and his group Yanu Boyz had their breakthrough with their hit song “Noqu Dina” which has more than 3 million views on YouTube.
Jaymaiah said that it was that breakthrough that gave him the exposure he needed as an artist, and it marked the start of his journey into music as a singer.
The 25-year-old who hails from Moturiki in Lomaiviti with maternal links to Serea in Naitasiri is not only a singer but a songwriter and composer. He has even taken up new roles as a recording engineer and producer — hoping to learn all he can about music.
“Music is not just a passion for me, it’s something I now do full-time,” he said.
“I started singing when I was 10 years old. I discovered my love for it as a child when I use to pick up my guitar and started singing when I felt sad – music has always brought peace and comfort to me.
Having been raised by an artist, Jaymaiah knew he would one day follow his father’s footstep.
“Music runs in the family. My father was part of a band called Cagi Mudre ni Delairoro with his brothers. After being part of the band, my dad later joined a gospel group called Blessed.
“Growing up in that environment definitely inspired me.
On becoming a gospel artist, it was a quick transition for Jaymaiah.
“I began as one of the three founding members of the boy group Yanu Boyz before moving to join the gospel group YHWH Brothers. That experience became my training ground, preparing me to use my talent for God.
“I realised I was created to worship Him (God) and that became the foundation of my journey. I knew deep down that this was the right time. There is no greater time than now to dedicate my music fully to God.
He said singing gospel music was what his heart truly desired.
“I believe gospel music is where I can give my best and it’s where my calling lies.
Currently serving in mission work in Darwin, Australia, Jaymaiah is proud to present his debut single ‘Holy Ghost Power’ as a solo gospel artist.
The song is about discovering your truly identity in Christ, as a son of the Most-High God.
“The song reminds us that we carry Holy Ghost power, supernatural power. It’s about living, breathing, and declaring God’s truth over our lives.
In the music industry, there is always an experienced artist that many would label as their favourite and for Jaymaiah it is Vilimone Lote of Dokidoki Gospel.
“Vilimone is my favourite artist and his work has inspired me a lot.
Jaymaiah and Vilimone have a few things in common having had successful careers with secular music prior to fully embracing gospel composition.
Even though Jaymaiah is currently living overseas doing mission work, he still feels blessed and grateful to carry the identity of a Fijian gospel artist here.
“Its something that I’m proud of and I will always carry that with me.
Of course, embracing a new path does come with its fair shares of challenges.
One of the biggest challenges is finding consistent support for his music but with God’s grace and favour upon his life, his able to overcome it and continues to grow stronger in his new calling.
His grateful to those that have stood by him and have helped him find his footing – they have influenced him in a positive way.
“My parents, my siblings and my wider family have been my strong influence.
“I’m also deeply grateful to Bill Max and my close family here in Australia for supporting my journey as a musician and producer. They have helped me pursue my vision of sharing the Good News.”
He hopes his music will inspire many people in the future and uplift their spirit when they feel disheartened.
