We are targeting our young people and young people love music, says New Methodist Church founder and general superintendent Pastor Atunaisa Vulaono.

He said this at a news conference at the Fiji Performing Rights Association headquarters in Suva yesterday, after handing over a $5000 cheque to sponsor the Best Gospel Award in the 2022 FIPRA Awards which begins today.

“I thank God for this opportunity to come on board again and sponsor the Best Gospel Award,” Mr Vulaono said.

“We are targeting our young people and young people love music. “For New Methodist, we use a lot of songs in worship, praising and also with dancing.

“So it would be just right for us to sponsor the Best Gospel Award and it would be right as we see it from a Christian point of view to come on board and also to sponsor.”

FIPRA director Laisa Vulakoro said they were grateful to all their sponsors.

“After two years of COVID-19, we are staging the annual event again,” the Vude queen said.

“The Best Gospel Award today is sponsored again by the New Methodist Gospel and music is the biggest part of their worship.

“They are always supportive and have been behind FIPRA and its members because someone composed songs that they have used to worship in their church.”

Vulakoro urged members of the public to buy tickets for the awards night from the FIPRA office at 66 McGregor Rd, Suva, which were going for $120.

The 2020 and 2021 FIPRA Music Awards will be held as a virtual event live-streamed from the Grand Pacific Hotel (GPH) at 5pm today, while the 2022 FIPRA Music Awards will be staged at the Grand Pacific Hotel tomorrow.
