A young man who allegedly fatally stabbed another at Saweni in Lautoka last week has been further remanded in custody.
Rishal Kumar, 20, faces a charge of murder over the fatal stabbing of Apakuki Tavodi, 37, last Thursday.
Mr Kumar appeared before magistrate Sekonaia Vodokisolomone in the Lautoka Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Mr Vodokisolomone transferred the case to the High Court in Lautoka and informed the defence that the charge of murder was indictable and bail application had to be filed in the High Court.
Deputy Divisional Police Commander Western, Acting SP Mohammed Harif represented the prosecution while Rajshneel Chand of Ace Legal appeared for Mr Kumar.
According to the summary of facts, following the incident, Tavodi was rushed to the Lautoka Hospital and put through medical procedures, however, he died on January 20 because of severe blood loss.
The case will be called on February 9 for mention.
