The Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) has revealed murder convict, Edward Nand was assaulted inside the prison by an inmate.
In a statement, FCS adds Mr Nand was not assaulted by prison officers as claimed by his lawyer, Sunil Gosai.
“The Fiji Corrections Service strongly denies the claim by Mr. Sunil Gosai and confirm that the information was wrong,” said FCS.
“The fact of the matter was that remand prisoner Edward Nand was assaulted by another prisoner due to personal differences resulting in the injuries.”
“The FCS Medics Unit had attended to the prisoner and treated the lacerations arising from the two prisoners’ altercation.”
FCS is advising Mr Gosai to report factual information regarding the prisoner’s claim instead of listening to one side of the story.
