A heavy rain warning remains in force for the entire Fiji Group, with authorities urging the public to remain vigilant as unsettled weather continues.

The Fiji Meteorological Service says a flash flood warning is also in effect for the whole of Viti Levu.

A flood warning remains for low-lying and flood-prone areas adjacent to and downstream of the Nakauvadra River (Rakiraki Town), Naseyani at the Yaqara River, the Tavua River, and the Ba River flood plains.

In addition, a flood alert continues for low-lying areas near and downstream of the Nadi, Nawaka and Tuva rivers in Nadroga.

A strong wind warning remains in force for land areas of the Western Division, the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Macuata, Bua, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands.

Weather officials say an active trough of low pressure, with associated rainbands and strong northwesterly winds, continues to affect the country.

For the Western Division (including the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups), Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, strong northwesterly winds are expected, averaging 45km/h with gusts up to 75km/h, easing to moderate to fresh later today.

The public is advised to continue following official weather warnings and safety advisories, avoid flooded areas and river crossings, and take necessary precautions as conditions evolve.
