A police officer accused of stealing money from an elderly man has two other pending criminal cases, the Suva Magistrate’s Court heard yesterday.
Senior Magistrate Sufia Hamza was informed that Elizabeth Sautu is also facing charges of extortion, abuse of office, and assault, alongside other police officers.
Ms Sautu appeared in court yesterday facing a fresh charge of theft, in which she is alleged to have stolen more than $3000 from a 66-year-old man of Sigatoka in March 2024.
In a separate matter, Ms Sautu is also charged with giving false information and conspiracy. A bench warrant has been issued in that case.
The court denied bail, ordering Ms Sautu be remanded in custody until her next court appearance on October 27.
