Opposition member of parliament Virendra Lal urged government to implement robust measures to safeguard places of worship and strengthen laws to criminalize acts of sacrilege.
He made the comments in Parliament this morning in relation to the “heinous act” of damaging deities at Samabula Shiv temple on Friday.
“This is not just merely an attack on our faith and community, but an affront to the principles of humanity, religious harmony and national unity,” he said.
“Despite numerous advocacies, it is very disappointing to see that acts of sacrilege rears its ugly head time and again.”
“Such acts should be denounced in strongest possible terms.”
