motoring generic – fastest times

What would you describe as fast? Auto racing has been around for many years dating back to 1867.

Auto racing has become a sport that many people love around the world and with its various categories, it has never fall short of excitement.

In auto racing engines need a considerable amount of air to produce maximum power during the race and it is important to take note of car engine capacities particularly during a race.

We have been featuring many cars for motoring mainly focused on cars that we have in Fiji, but today we look at three cars with the fastest 0-60 times listed by www.carophile.org.

These cars are some of the fastest in the world today.

2016 AMZ Grimsel Electric Race Car (0-60 MPH time: 1.5 seconds)

The 2016 AMZ Grimsel Electric Race Car is one of the fastest cars in the world. The auto made big headlines worldwide with a 0-60 MPH time of just 1.5 seconds. The small car is made of carbon fibre, uses an on-board computer to control each individual wheel, and was made for the Formula Student Competition (Formula SAE). Each of the wheels is powered by a specifically designed wheel hub motor capable of generating 200 horsepower and 1700 Nm of torque. The traction control system used by the auto also regulates each individual wheel’s performance to result in the optimum performance (and speed) demonstrated on the track by the car.

2015 Infiniti Formula 1 Red Bull RB11 (0-60 MPH time: 1.7 seconds)

The 2015 Infinity Formula 1 Red Bull RB11 is one of the fastest cars in the world. The auto has a 0-60 MPH time of just 1.7 seconds and was used during the 2015 Formula 1 season for 19 races. Most Formula 1 race cars will have a 0-60 MPH time of between 2.1-2.7 seconds. The auto is made up of a carbon-composite double wishbone along with springs and an anti-roll bar with aluminium alloy uprights.

The car is powered by a 1.6 litre, V-6 turbo (Renault Energy F1-2015), and the transmission is the Red Bull Technology eight-speed gearbox that is longitudinally mounted on the auto.

1994 Ford SVT Boss Mustang 10.0L Concept — (0-60 MPH time: 1.9 seconds)

Despite its age, the 1994 Ford SVT Boss Mustang 10.0 litre Concept still boasts one of the fastest 0-60 MPH runs of all time at 1.9 seconds. The car can also go from 0 to 100 MPH in 5.5 seconds and runs the quarter mile in 10.55 seconds hitting 135 MPH.

The auto is powered by a 90 degree V-8 super charged engine rated at 855 BHP, 1071 NM (or 790 ft-lbs) of torque, and is naturally aspirated. Ford decided to not take the SVT Boss 10.0 litre into production, so there was only one of the auto produced. The car has a three speed, manual transmission for the lucky drivers who get the opportunity to drive one of the most powerful cars ever produced.
