THE Bushells Fiji’s Biggest Morning Tea at the Motibhai Group of Companies head office in Legalega, Nadi, yesterday highlighted staff solidarity and support for the Fiji Cancer Society.
The annual fundraising event highlighted the corporate community’s ongoing commitment to supporting the society.
Opening the event, Motibhai Group business development manager Nilesh Chand urged staff to look beyond the festivities and focus on the difference such initiatives could make to vulnerable families.
“I encourage you all to enjoy this lecture and reflect on the impact we can make together, because we can offer more than hope, we can offer real help, real change, and real wisdom,” he said.
Lautoka Aspen Hospital Consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Nanise Sikiti praised the Motibhai Group for its longstanding partnership with the Fiji Cancer Society.
Dr Sikiti highlighted cervical cancer, which remains a major health threat in Fiji.
Health authorities are launching a World Health Organization-recommended cervical cancer screening program in the Western Division, with Dr Sikiti saying women aged 30 to 59 can undergo a simple self-swab, receive results within an hour and access immediate treatment for precancerous conditions.
