It was a year of abundant forms of community engagement for the Kaiviti Silktails Rugby League Football Club.

The club had released its 2025 Community Engagement Report Card recently and it detailed what it mentioned as its commitment to making a lasting impact in their communities.

This year, the club had made 38 total official club community engagements and worked a total of 608 club community hours.

Working on community projects showed the club had reported a total value of $258,000 in community projects and donations.

This meant that $50,800 of community money was raised this year.

Kaiviti Silktails’ executive director Stephen Driscoll shared the meaning behind their engagement with the community.

“The KSCYP (Kaiviti Silktails Community Youth Program) is all about our players and staff making a lasting impact on their communities,” Driscoll said.

On the club’s official website, it said the program was a testament to the club’s commitment to both education and community involvement.

“By empowering our young players, the program ensures they can train while actively contributing to the local community,” the website stated.

“Our Clubs Community Youth Program is named in honour of our late manager Jacquie Shannon and in 2025, we had a record year in community donations, money raised and the community visits and hours we worked.”

Shannon was the Silktails’ first manager and appointed in the pre-season of 2019 before her promotion to being the club’s general manager.

She passed away in Australia from a brain aneurysm on June 18, 2022 and in tribute to her, had incorporated her silhouette into the logo design of the KSCYP.

At the time of her passing, she had been there during the club’s re-location phase between 2021 to 2022.

The Silktails also played in the Manoa Thompson Bowl this year.
