Another 35 parcels of suspected illicit drugs have been recovered from the northern Lau Group, adding to a growing series of discoveries that have raised concern among island communities.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed the latest find was made yesterday afternoon near Munia Island.

“Thirty-five packs were retrieved after being found floating along Munia Island at 1500 hours. All are in police custody,” Ms Naisoro said.

The latest recovery comes as villagers across parts of Lau continue to report sightings of suspicious packages washing ashore. Images purportedly showing some of the recovered parcels have also been widely shared on social media, drawing significant public attention and speculation.

Police have not commented on the authenticity of the images circulating online but have urged members of the public to immediately report any suspicious packages and avoid handling them.

Authorities are continuing investigations into the origin of the parcels and whether they are linked to earlier discoveries made in Lau waters in recent days.

The recovery of the additional 35 parcels has intensified concerns about the scale of the operation, with police working to secure and examine all recovered items as part of the ongoing investigation.
