More gold in Samoa

TEAM Fiji to the XVI Samoa Pacific Games raked in more gold medals compared with the 2015 Pacific Games in Papua
New Guinea.

Fiji bagged 35 gold medals this year to 33 in 2015 however they dropped a position from fourth place to fifth at the Samoa
games.

The Fiji contingent finished in fifth place with 35 gold, 38 silver and 43 bronze medals – a total of 116 medals.

New Caledonia topped the medal tally with 76 gold, 55 silver and 51 bronze, a total of 182 medals, to be crowned the new
Pacific Games champion.

2015 Pacific Games champion Papua New Guinea wrapped up the games in second spot with 38 gold, 57 silver and 35
bronze medals, a total of 130 medals.

Host, Samoa finished in third spot with 38 gold, 42 silver and 48 bronze, collecting 125 medals.

In fourth position was Tahiti which had the same
