Morale is high in the Vodafone Fiji Bati Camp as the team gears up for their much-anticipated Pacific Bowl Championshipmatch against the Papua New Guinea Kumuls on Saturday, 5pm at the Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby.
A lot will be at stake for both teams during the match with the Bati out to right the wrongs from their last match in Suva where the Kumuls ran rampant 22-10 at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
A win for either side will also bring them a step closer to the playoffs.
Fiji National Rugby League chairman Akuila Masi says the team is in good spirits after their win against the Cook Islands two weeks ago.
“The Bati returned to camp on Monday and are looking forward to their match against the PNG Kumuls,” he said.
He added that there are high expectations from both camps to get a win on Saturday, and the Bati coaches are working overtime to get the team ready.
“People are excited, the team is excited, they want to win, and PNG also wants to win so it’s going to be a great game.
“If you follow the media coverage from PNG, there’s high expectations from both camps to perform.
“And we are banking on coach Kativerata and the boys to deliver the result that we want.”
Meanwhile the Vusu Raider will square off against the Mt Hagen Eagles for the Melanesian Cup as the curtain raiser match.
