Veiseisei villager Laitia Moceidreke experienced what it’s like to play on Fijian soil for the first time.

Born and bred in Sydney, Moceidreke had never played in Fiji until yesterday when he featured for the Knights in their NRL trial match against the Storm.

Although the result did not go their way, Moceidreke said it was still an enjoyable experience for him.

“I come down to Fiji every now and then to meet my family and it’s been a while too but I enjoyed myself. It’s a different feeling to play in front of family and friends,” he said.

Like every other Fijian, Moceidreke hoped the trial match will open the door to many more opportunities.

“It’s really good, many kinds here don’t have the chance to see this in person. There is a lot of talent here and hopefully they get to showcase it in the NRL one day.”

Shared maternal links to Malake in Ra, Moceidreke is hoping to perform well this season and get a chance to play for the Fiji Bati and represent Fiji in major tournaments.
