THE Fiji 7s rugby and soccer teams departed the country yesterday for their historic Rio Olympics outing with the hopes of the nation on their shoulders.
While all the expectation is for the Ben Ryan-coached team to win Fiji’s first ever Olympics medal, the soccer boys are also geared up for the titanic battle against reigning Olympics champion Mexico, defending World Cup champion Germany and Asian champions South Korea in their pool games.
Hundreds of people from all walks of life converged at the Nadi International Airport and bade farewell to our sporting heroes on their road to Rio.
