“A TEAM that doesn’t score, does not win.”
These were the words of Ravendra’s Transport Suva assistant coach Mohammed Irfhan after the team’s nil-all draw against Stratum Constructions Nadi in the opening match of the Battle of the Giants yesterday at Subrail Park in Labasa.
Finishing was the team’s main weakness as they could not net a goal despite the various chances they created throughout the 90-minute match.
This could be because of the player’s bad aim plus the sharp response of Nadi goalkeeper Joela Biuvanua.
“I know we did not expect this but that is football. In football, if you don’t score, you don’t win, that is simple.
“We had many chances, but we couldn’t capitalise and ended up in a draw,” he said.
Key player Dave Radrigai had to leave the ground early due to injury.
“What was hard on us was the early exit of our midfield Dave and a few injuries which are kind of serious at the moment,” Irfhan added.
The assistant coach who is also the team’s physio said they are expecting some of the injured players to recover in time for their next matches.
Radrigai on the other hand, might miss the remainder of the group games depending on the seriousness of his injury.
