MISS Fiji Pageant organising chair Felix Magnus says slow sponsorships and funding delays remain their biggest challenge as they finalise preparations for next month’s national event.

While logistics have been cleared with the police and National Fire Authority, he said financial support had been slower than expected.

“Some of the funds have been delayed, especially sponsorship,” he said. However, he said this would not stop them.

“We are fully committed. We’ve flown in from Viti Levu, we’re in Labasa now, and we’re ready to head to Suva to deliver this event.”

Mr Magnus said the committee remained confident despite the hurdles.

“Nothing will stop us from executing this. The girls are well looked after, and we are pushing ahead with full determination.”

A separate committee based in Suva is working on the pageant program, including the selection of judges and the week-long schedule planned for the Suva Foreshore Civic Centre.

He added that transparency was a priority.

“The pageant operations are completely separate from municipal councils.

“Although I’ve been appointed by the Minister for Local Government to chair Miss Fiji, every town council is involved, and all decisions go through the national committee.”

The event is expected to feature at least eight queens, with hopes of having all 13 municipal representatives next year.
