THE Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MOHMS) has strengthened movement restrictions between containment areas from yesterday.

Dr Fong said everyone had ample time to return to where they lived, and no public vehicles such as taxis and buses will cross containment area borders.

“As of now, all passes to facilitate movement across containment zones will be issued by MOHMS,” he said.

However, Dr Fong said this would be reserved for medical emergencies and other exceptional circumstances, including funeral arrangements.

Dr Fong said the list of dialysis patients was also at the borders with the police teams, however, patients have been strongly encouraged to enter and stay within the lockdown for the next 14 days.

He said the exchange of food and medicine supply could be facilitated at the border provided delivery arrangements to the border and from the border to the recipient was organised by requesting party.

“There is a reason we have kept supermarkets, banks, and pharmacies open – it is so people can acquire essentials, like food to eat and medicine they need. Within containment areas, we are working with the private sector to ensure every Fijian has access to what they need within the containment area in which they reside.”

He reiterated that no one should have any excuse to leave a containment area to access these essential services.
