Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced a Cabinet reshuffle to take effect from next month as the Coalition Government enters its fourth year in office.

In a statement yesterday, Mr Rabuka said the changes were aimed at realigning ministerial responsibilities as the Government approaches the end of its third year.

Under the reshuffle, Sakiasi Ditoka has been appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, while Mosese Bulitavu takes over as Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management.

Lynda Tabuya has been assigned the Information, Environment and Climate Change portfolio, and Charan Jeath Singh becomes Minister for Public Enterprises, Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts.

Ifereimi Vasu will serve as Minister for iTaukei Affairs, with responsibility for iTaukei culture, heritage and arts, while Tomasi Tunabuna has been named Minister for Agriculture and the Sugar Industry.

Mr Rabuka will retain responsibility for the Civil Service and Strategic Planning, National Development and Statistics.

He also announced that office accommodation and housing units will move to the Ministry of Public Works, while the Ministry of Civil Service will continue to set overall government office accommodation policy.

Assistant Minister Sachida Nand has been reassigned to the Ministry of Commerce and Business Development.

Mr Rabuka said the changes came at a critical stage as the Government prepares for its fourth year, reaffirming its commitment to effective governance.
